About Marguerite Smith
Marguerite Waters Smith was the daughter of Charlton Thomas Waters and Lula Caroline Carson and the wife of Lamar Smith. Her maternal grandfather was Major John Thomas Carson, a prosperous Georgia planter who was killed in action during the Civil War. Marguerite was the mother of noted writer Carson Smith McCullers. It is said that even when she was pregnant with Carson Marguerite knew her daughter would be a genius. Her daughter Carson was buried next to her in Nyack, NY.* Reference: Find A Grave Memorial - SmartCopy: Nov 13 2018, 17:20:50 UTC
