Abuela Pepilla:

She married when she was fourteen years old and had a total of 15 children one every other year.

Four died in the Canary Islands.

She raised Tia Eloiza wich was her niece(Manuel, Brothe's daughter) Tia Eloiza lived with Marielena in Florida untill she died a few years ago.

Abuela Pepilla always had long hair and wore a washwoman hairdo with the bun on top of her head.

She used those u shaped hair pins to keep her bun in.

Always wore either black or gray dresses (en Luto). A picture of abuelo Valerio in her room next to her antique vanity.

He was a handsome man with a handle bar mustache with green eyes.

She sipped hot drinks from the saucer in order to cool them down.

She shared a room with Omaida towards the back of the house.

She enjoyed sewing on the old treadle sewing machine. I remember her making trapos de trapear. She would sew all the edges so that they would not unravel.

I remember putting eye drops in her eyes after she had her cataracts removed.

She taught me to pray.

She would teach me all my last names so that I would not forget my family history. She would have me repeat them over and over so that I wouldn’t forget.
