Georg Adam Brecht probably accompanied his brothers to Frederick Co., VA, about 1753, where he met and married Maria Katharina Kaufeldt, daughter of Johan Nicolaus Kaufeldt and Anna Grundt. He was back in Lancaster Co., PA, in April, 1754, to sell some land he inherited from his father. He Was living in Baltimore Co., MD, or York Co., PA, when his oldest son was born in 1756, but moved to Frederick Co., VA. in the summer of 1759, receiving land grants there in 1761 and 1765.

It was at that time that he started calling himself George Adam Bright. The other members of the Brecht family gradually started using the name Bright, so that by the time of the Revolution, they were known as the Bright family. George bought 170 acres in Beverly Manor, Augusta Co., VA, in May 1767, and was granted land near South Mountain in southern Augusta Co. in 1781 and in 1787. He is listed on the tax lists in Augusta Co. from 1782 to 1804. George and Catharina attended St. John's Reformed Church in Middlebrook. George made his will Apr 14, 1804, which was proved Jun 25, 1805. He is buried in Dutch Hillow Cemetery west of Greenville. George and Catherine had 9 children.
