The next to be born was the year that Anna Steyn was deceased. It was Jan Hendrik Tobias De Lange and he was shown as the son of Maria Magdalene Hendrina Mynhard by South African Geneologies by Heese and Lombaard (GISA), it is shown that he is from the second marriage as child of Maria Magdalene Hendrina Mynhard.

An interesting fact I realised is that Jan Hendrik Tobias De Lange was born on 7 February 1836, which was a Sunday (See Google days and dates) and Anna Elizabeth Coenradina Christoffelina Steyn was then deceased 4 days later on 11 February 1836 which was a Thursday. The Baptismal entry (showed here in one of the memories with circle on the left-hand side of the page), there is a blank space where the mother should have been be filled in. Anna Steyn died two days before Jan Hendrik Tobias' baptism, which happened on 13 February 1836, strangely which was on a Saturday. It was not a private baptism as five children on that page were baptised on 13 February 1836 and two children on Sunday 14 February 1836.

The question is here, is he the son of Anna Steyn or of Maria Mynhard?

I take my answer from the fact that David Petrus De Lange completes the above death notice on Sunday 14 February 1836, a day after the baptism of Jan Hendrik Tobias De Lange. If Jan was the child of Anna Steyn, his wife, that was just deceased, he would have written the name of Jan Hendrik Tobias De Lange as the seventh child. Well, he did not, and one can then easily say, Jan was the child of Maria Magdalene Hendrina Mynhard, the young girl that entered his life about three years ago, when she was 16, then 19 years old, delivering his second child out of wedlock. Well, I love that because if it was not for those two, I would not have here to write this as Maria Mynard, is the wife of my 3rd great-grandfather.

Father David Petrus De Lange * 1798 LCV5-XYD must have been destroyed. His wife died Thursday, she was buried Friday and son, Jan Hendrik Tobias De Lange was baptised Saturday also knowing he was the son of Maria Mynhard.

On the same day of baptism of Jan Hendrik Tobias De Lange, Maria Mynhard and David Petrus are shown as witnesses on the second page. Did David Petrus have a second child out of Wedlock with Maria Mynhard. Gisa says yes, it is so, but why was there a blank space on the baptismal entry where his mother should have been filled in. Maybe the pastor (Dominee) was going to go back, and complete that space, but forgot.

As per South African Geneologies by Heese and Lombaard (GISA), David Petrus De Lange * 1798 LCV5-XYD married his second wife Maria Magdalena Hendrina Mynhard, she gave birth to their first son Jan Hendrik Tobias De Lange on 7 February 1836. As per GISA they had six children together, but many more were added in familysearch.org.
