...There's a daily reminder of the wall within their own home. It's a double house, with Franz' grandmother, 84-year-old Anna Werkus, living on one side. The day the wall was erected, her daughter, Mrs. Maria Skurk, had come from East Berlin to visit ber mother. She's still there. Her husband is still in East Berlin, where he owns a lumber yard. Eventually, when he can no longer work, he will be able to come to the West to join her, with perhaps a few articles of clothing.
