Mrs. Betker, whose maiden name was Mary Hintz, was born on January 26, 1854 (tombstone has 1853), in Poland. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Hintz. She was married in her native land in 1880 to Mr. Betker and the couple came to this country in 1881. After residing in Chicago for two years they came to Portage County and settled in the town of Sharon. Mr. Betker was employed at the Boyington mill. They purchased a farm in Alban in 1892 and 45 years ago (1895) located at the present farm home. Mr. Betker died on November 30, 1926. [Stevens Point Daily Journal (12-31-1940)]
