About Mariano H. de Joya
Mariano was appointed by Philippine President Sergio Osmena as associate justice of the Philippine Supreme Court on 06 June 1945. He resigned from this position on 24 June 1945. He was among the 1903 group of pensionados. He first completed his high school in California before enrolling in Indiana University's Maurer School of Law. Some of his co-pensionades in Maurer were Antonio de las Alas and Jorge Bocobo. He started out as assistant prosecuting attorney for the law department of Manila in 1908. In May 1950, Philippine President Elpidio Quirino appointed him as member of the Integrity Board, which was tasked with the handling of reports of government graft and corruption. Other members of the Board were Pompeyo Zumaran Diaz, LL.B, Pilar Hidalgo-Lim, and Philippine Vice-President Fernando Lopez.
