About Pompeyo Zumaran Diaz, LL.B
In 1926, Pompeyo graduated cum laude from the law degree program of the UP. His batch mate was Ramon Lozano Sunico, the uncle of his future wife Paz Chuidian Sunico. Pompeyo served as Solicitor General from October 1950 to December 1952. He also served as Court of Appeals Justice from November 1952 to February 1954. In May 1950, Philippine President Elpidio Quirino appointed him as member of the Integrity Board, which was tasked with the handling of reports of government graft and corruption. Other members of the Board were Mariano H. de Joya, Pilar Hidalgo-Lim, and Philippine Vice-President Fernando Lopez. He was also dean of the Ateneo Law School (Padre Faura campus) from 1967 to 1974.
His father Anacleto, who was executed by the Japanese during the liberation of Manila in 1945, headed the 1927 Commission on Revision that drafted the Revised Penal Code of the Philippines (enacted in 1932, this would replace the Spanish Penal Code).
