About Marie-Charlotte Roussel

Charlotte Roussel had been orphaned in France and made a most likely candidate to be recruited to be sent to New France in order to make the colony grow. She was a "fille du roi". Most likely she was in an orphanage run by the church, and was concidered to be a girl that would make a good wife for a colonist...one of good moral training.

She and Pierre had 8 children together.

Then during a rainy night the Indians snuck in and attacked the settlement of Lachine. Charlotte and Pierre were taken captive on 5 Aug. 1689 and Charlotte was never heard from again. Pierre did make it back to the settlement after 8 1/2 years of captivity on 22 Jan. 1698, but Charlotte was not with him. It was most likely that she had died before that date during captivity.
