About Marie Louise Cloutier
GEDCOM Note
Louise married François Marguerie, Sieur de la Haye at the age of fourteen. He was one of the most colorful men of early New France. A guide and interperter of Indian languages, he lived and worked among the tribes and even survived capture and imprisonment by the Iroquois. Shortly after they moved to Trois-Rivières, he was drowned in a canoe accident. Childess and widowed at seventeen, Louise returned to Québec where she married the tailor, Jean Mignot dit Chatillon 5 months later. In 1689 Louise married saddlemaker Jean-Pierre Mataux.
