"Marie Boggs King, 95, passed on Monday, May 5, 2014, and shed her earthly body and joined her husband in eternity. Marie was born March 8, 1919, in Clay; she was the daughter of the late Joseph Jenkins Boggs and Mary Ellen Boggs.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brothers and sisters and their respective spouses, and they are: brothers, Anderson Boggs and wife, Estil, Andrew Jackson Boggs and wife, Lona, Thomas Clay Boggs, Joseph Burne Boggs and wife, Beulah, Arthur Gary Boggs and wife, Eva; sisters, Mable Johnson Clark and husbands, W.S. Johnson and Alva Clark, Mamie Morris and husband, Waldo, Mattie Davis and husband, Okey, and Myrtle Sakran and husband, Frank.

Marie was also preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Calvin Velt King Sr., and grandson, Charles King, USMC 8th and I Detachment, Washington, D.C.

Marie was a dedicated, wife, homemaker and mother and formerly resided in Belle. She is survived by her two sons, Calvin Velt King Jr. of Singapore and Wayne King and wife, Sandy, of Clay; grandchildren, Dianna King Lunsford and her husband, Anthony, of Cincinnati, Ohio, Rita King Doshi and her husband, Sanjay, of Singapore, Strarkey King of Cincinnati, Ohio, Terri Elizabeth King of Los Angeles, Calif., and Christopher Wayne King and his wife, Jennifer, of Gulfport, Miss.; and great-grandchildren, Devansh Sanjay Doshi, Alysia Dewees, Celina King, Tabitha Giselle King and Gideon Lane King.

She was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church of Wallback, and also a 50-year member of the Eastern Star and 50-year member of the White Shrine.

The family desires to thank two special friends of Marie, they being Coach Fred Aldridge and his wife, Pat, as they spent countless hours visiting and comforting Marie over the last three years. The family also desires to thank the employees and staff of Cedar Ridge nursing home of Sissonville, as they provided marvelous care for her at their facility, and the Clay Ambulance Service for providing the pallbearers for Marie, as they had revived numerous services for her during her life. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 10, at Wilson-Shamblin-Smith Funeral Home, Clay, conducted by her grandson, Dr. Chris King, Pastor of Bayou View Baptist Church of Gulfport, Miss. Burial will follow in Clay Memorial Gardens, Clay. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family desires that donations be made to the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in memory of Marie Boggs King. Online condolences may be sent to www.carlwilsonfuneralhome.com.
