Marie "Maria" Merlet

Ben M. Angel notes: It appears that her having died before departure is based on the fact that she didn't depart with the family for the New World. However, she is also listed as having married a Herman Janson, and being age 16 at the time that the family departed, it could just as likely be that she remained with her husband in Holland. Haven't found any likely Herman Jansons to corroborate their remaining in Holland, though (one online source suggested that he was a soldier that departed for New Amsterdam two years before the family, but the ship record for him shows that he was sending his wages back to his mother, which would seem odd for a man to do with a young wife).
