Marie Elisabeth Motz

Marita Knobel 29 Nov 2012: We know from the archives that Franz Helfrich Knobel was born in Kassel and that his father was Philipp Henrich Knobel. BUT, I found something very interesting in the archives. Franz Helfrich Knobel had a sister, Marie Elisabeth Knobel (b. 1740 in Kassel) who married (on 14.01.1753) Justin Ludwig Motz (1725-1791) a civil servant in Witzenhausen, Hesse. It says that her father was Philipp Henrich Knobel, so there´s no doubt that she was Franz´s sister. It is quite possible that Franz´s son, Justin Georg (who committed suicide), got his first name from his uncle, Justin Ludwig Motz. Witzenhausen, where they lived, is in Hesse near Kassel and 175 kilometers away from Schwarzenfels.
