Cave-in-Victim Dies Soon After Mother’s Death
Kewanee, May 24 (AP)
John Passarella, 47, and his mother, Marie, 76, died within a few hours of each other today.
Passarella died this afternoon of head and chest injuries received in a cave-in of a sewer trench.
A few hours later, Mrs. Passarella collapsed and died after visiting her son in St. Francis Hospital in Kewanee.
Both were from Chicago suburbs. Passarella lived in Berkeley and his mother in Melrose Park.
The 10-feet-deep trench caved in Tuesday, crushing Passarella and another worker, Silvio Vernere, 45, of Riverdale. Vernere also suffered severe chest injuries.
