In June 1880 Marie's father John Hazekamp (31 years old, born in Holland, gardener), mother Mary (28, Netherlands), siblings Katy (8, Illinois), Nellie (6, Illinois), Carrie (3, Illinois), Neelis (4, Illinois) and John (0, Illinois) were living in Englewood town, nowadays a southern district of Chicago, Cook County, Illinois.

In June 1900 Mary Hazekamp [= Hare's camp] (19 years old, born in December 1881 in Illinois), her father John Hazekamp [wrongly transcribed as Harekamp] (51, June 1849, Holland, immigrated in 1867, truck farmer), mother Mary (48, January 1852, Holland, immigrated in 1867, mother of 4 deceased and 6 living children), siblings John (20, February 1880, Illinois, farm laborer), Clara (17, November 1883, Illinois), Jennie (15, September 1885, Illinois, stenographer), her niece Martha Swart (4, February 1896, Illinois), her brother-in-law Peter Piersma (26, March 1874, Holland, core maker at a foundry), her sister Nellie Piersma (26, January 1874, Illinois) and nephew Henry Piersma (1, December 1899, Illinois) were living on their own farm at 10730 Wentworth Avenue in Calumet Township, Ward 34 of -south- Chicago, Cook County, Illinois, where also the boarders Tunis Slingerland (18, June 1880, Illinois, express driver) and his brother Abraham Slingerland (23, August 1877, Illinois, express driver) were living. Mary married later on to the latter.

On February 20, 1902 Mary Hazekamp married in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois at the age of 20 years the four years older Abraham Slingerland, with whom she had in 1903 daughter Mary.

On March 27, 1904 her husband Abraham Slingerland died in Roseland [in south Chicago], Cook County, Illinois, at the age of 26 years, when he was drowned in Lake Calumet. The newspaper The Indiana Democrat, dated 6 April 1904, reported: "Four men, Tunis Slingerland, Abraham Slingerland, Peter Piersna [has to be: Piersma] and John Brandt, were drowned in Lake Calumet by the capsizing of their boat." Tunis was a brother of Abraham and Peter Piersma a brother-in-law.

In April 1910 Marie S Slingerland (28, widow), her daughter Mary Slingerland (6, Illinois) and her father-in-law Albert Slingerland (65, Holland, immigrated in 1868, widower, boarder) were living in Ward 33 of -south- Chicago, Cook County, Illinois, at the home of her sister Nellie Piersma (36, Illinois, widow, head of the household and her sons Henry Piersma (10, Illinois) and John Piersma (6, Illinois). Her future husband, Henry Greving (26, Holland, immigrated in 1907, single), was living there too, as a boarder. Next door lived her parents John Hazekamp (60, truck farmer), Mary S (58) and their granddaughter Martha Swart (14, Illinois)

On December 7, 1910 Marie Sophie married in Cook County, Illinois, very likely in Chicago, the two years younger Henry Greeving.

On December 13, 1911 they had in Cook County, Illinois daughter Ellen Greving.

In 1920 Marie (38, Illinois), her Hendry Greving (36, Holland, immigrated in 1907), her daughter Marie Slingerland (16, Illinois) and their daughter Ellen Greving (8, Illinois) were living in Ward 9 of Chicago, Cook County, Illinois.

On January 26, 1920 they had in Chicago daughter Josephine Ruth Greving.

In April 1930 Marie S (48), her husband Henry Greving (45, immigrated in 1908, real estate propietor), their daughters Ellen (18) and Josephine R (10, Illinois) were living in their house, worth $7500, at 10744 Wentworth Avenue, Chicago, Cook County, Illinois.

In September 1938 her husband Henry Greving died at the age of almost 55 years in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois.

In April or May 1940 Marie S Greving (58, widow) and her daughter Josephine Greving (20, bookkeeper) were still living at their own home, worth $4000, at 10744 Wentworth Avenue in Ward 9 of Chicago, Cook County, Illinois. They lived in 1935 in the same house.
