About Marie Louise Wyatt
Marie was born in Kansas. In 1918 her family moved to Montana to try farming. Unfortunately, there was a long drought and they had to give up the farm. In 1921 they moved to Chicago to await approval to immigrate to Canada. In Canada, after a few years of hard work for other farmers they were able to buy a farm in Kleefeld near Winnipeg. Marie saw how hard her mother worked and decided the farm life was not for her. She put herself though Accounting school and worked as an accountant. About 1937 she decided she wanted to move to California. During those depression years she was told she could not immigrate and take that kind of a job. She was told she could work as a domestic of as a care nurse for elderly people. She agreed and said if that were the case she would like to work with the families of stars in Hollywood. She was hired to care for Nora Wyatt who was the mother of Dixie Lee Crosby. After about a year she got permission to seek a job as an accountant and went to work for a company in Los Angeles. About 10 years later she read in the paper that Nora had passed away and she sent condolences to the family. Evan Wyatt soon contacted her and asked her to marry him. They soon moved to a 17 acer ranch in Camarillo where even designed two houses. First a small one to live in while the bigger one was being built. They had to borrow money from Bing to be able to complete the ranch so the put it in his name and they had lifetime occupancy. Marie was a great cook and often had large parties for Evans family and for her family and the many friends she had met in Camarillo and Somis.
