About Marijan Erceg
Marijan left Podgora as a 15 year old emigrating to Western Austrlia, and worked variously as a woodcutter and gold miner in the Kalgoorlie region.
He developed lung problems from mining that was referred to as dusted and had to give up work, the dusted miners were compensated with a 1,000 acres of land in the Southern Cross region.
He died in 1940 of these lung problems and his wife Milka and some of the younger children moved to Perth WA.
Other Croatians in a similar plight who were given land in this region were: Burgovich, Unkovich, Derich, Tomich and Turich.
