About Marilyn Ruth Cohn
Marilyn Brodkey Cohn, Passed away in Houston on August 10, 2011. For 50 years she was married to Julius Cohn who preceded her in death. Marilyn grew up in St. Louis, Missouri and moved to Omaha, Nebraska when she married. She attended Washington University and received a Masters in Education from the University of Nebraska. Marilyn was very active in her community. Her lifelong interests included Planned Parenthood, education reform and the arts. She founded the Omaha Opera Society, volunteered as annual chair of the Cancer Society and the Heart Association, on the board of the League of Women Voters and the Swanson Library. She worked with the Omaha Symphony, the Tuesday Musical Society, Habitat for Humanity, the Food Bank and multiple political campaigns. Marilyn is survived by her children Jo and Robert Sawyer of Wilmette, Il., Doe and Henry Florsheim of Houston, Elizabeth and Gareth Morris of Chicago, Il., 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Her family asks remembrances be made to Planned Parenthood or The Partnership of Baylor College of Medicine.
