Hi Carol,

I am descended from George Broomhead, who is listed as having married Marina Jane Hunlock 21/06/1793.

I was thrilled to discover the connection and quickly unearthed the massive tree that was Marina's ancestry.

I found that the marriage is listed in over 200 family trees, on Myheritage, Ancestry & Family search. But apart from a family story from 1939, stating that Marina Jane was disowned for marrying below her class, I could find no hard evidence to list as a source.

I accessed the PR's & BT's for Wingerworth and sure enough, there is no wedding listed for 1793. I decided that it must have been a misprint and that the date was wrong, as Marina would have been just 16 years old at the time (she was baptised in 1777).

A few pages on I discovered her entry, it read as follows:

Marina Jane Hunloke, daughter of Sir Henry Hunloke and Dame Margaret Hunloke, BURIED 21st June 1793

It looks very much like the person who transcribed the register for Wingerworth missed out this vital piece of information.
