October 1514: Instrument narrating that Janet Hamiltone, relict of the late (James) Campble of Brounsyd, faithfully promised that if James C. should go the way of all flesh before he attained his twenty-first year, she would pay to Mariota Craufurd, daughter of George Craufurd, . . . . ., affianced of the said James, £10 Scots yearly, until the said Mariota was infeft in lands of the said James, extending to 25 merks yearly.
