Notes

Sir John Boswell, the first designed of Balgregie, obtained the barony of Balmuto, in the beginning of the fifteenth century, by his marriage with Mariota, daughter and co-heiress of Sir John Glen, to whom it had previously belonged.

This sir John Boswell, the first of Balmuto, died before 1430, and was succeeded by his son, David,
