About Marisa Mennegke

Marisa Mennegke (1977 - 2003)

Brief overview:

Marisa (26), was shot dead, while holding her four-year-old niece, on her cousins driveway in Elsburg, Germiston, on 8th February 2003.

Marisa had gone to visit her cousin, Debbie Slabbert, to have her hair tinted. She went outside to move her car, and her niece Jetaime went with her. After they climbed into the vehicle Jetaime slammed her fingers in the door. Marisa leaned over to comfort her, and three armed males appeared next to the car.

They smashed the window and demanded Marisa's cell phone, and when she answered saying that she didn't have one as it was inside the house, they shot her. She died holding Jetaime.

Police spokesperson, Sergeant Zithini Dlamini, said the men then ran off to the Ramaphosa squatter camp across the road. He said the motive for the murder was probably car theft and robbery.
