About Marit Larsdatter Nesteby
GEDCOM Note
Alvdal, ei Bygdebok, p. 264
Farm 11, bruk 8
Nesteby Store, Utistu’u
Jo(n Estensen) was only 49 years old when he died, and it is uncertain if he died naturally. There was a wedding at one of the Stei farms in the fall of 1724 and Jo was there. On the way home he rode together with some guests. A short time later, he died. Enough concern was raised about whether the cause was natural, and some weeks after the burial Jon’s brother-in-law, Lars Arnesson from Olen, Jon Olsson from Randmæl and Tore Larsson from Borsen at Steien for the trial “alleging that on the way home from the wedding they had hit Jon Estensen so that he because of that should be dead.” But Jon Olsson Bortistuen and Ola Olsson Jorda had seen Jo before he died, and they could not see that he had been hit, and Jo had not complained to them about it. The case was then dismissed.
Lars Olsson, d. 1753, was the next farmer at Utistuen, but we do not know of his ancestors. He was the first self-owner at the farm, buying the farm for 160 riksdaler in 1725. His wife was from Randmælen and named Kari Olsdatter. Their children were: . . . 2. Marit e., b. 1724, married Ola Simensson in Norsen at Steien. . . .
