About Marjorie Mae Hopper

Marjorie D. Hopper passed away on January 12, 2007, at the age of 89 and a half, of complications from an infection. She was with family and slipped away peacefully. Born in Ford County, Kansas on July 12, 1917 to William Lonnie Davis and Nellie Bly McInteer, she had one sister, Doris Lee Hanratty (Jim) and spent her early years in Dodge City, Kansas. She also had extensive family in Kentucky. On August 21, 1935 she married her high school sweetheart, Jay Millard Hopper, they were married 47 years when Jay passed away of cancer August 7, 1982. They had two beloved children, Dennis Lee Hopper and David Jay Hopper and lived in Dodge City, Kansas until relocating to San Diego, California in the 1940's. They also spent winters at the Fountain of Youth Spa in the Palm Springs area where Marjorie eventually met and married her second husband Tom Stockman. Marjorie and Tom were "Snowbirds," summering in Yachats, Oregon until his death December 22, 1987. Marjorie most recently resided at Belmont Village in Hollywood, California, where the staff loved and cared for her in her last few years. Marjorie is preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Jay Millard Hopper, sister Doris Lee Hanratty (Jim) and by her second husband Tom Stockman. She is survived by her children, Dennis Lee Hopper (Victoria Duffy) and David Jay Hopper, grandchildren Marin (John), Tiffany, Rebecca, Ruthanna, Henry and Galen, and greatgrandchildren Violet and Trinity. She is also survived by nephew Duane Hopper, his children Dawn Romero (Steve) and son Joaquin Estevan, Daphne Attanirano (Antonio) and children Antonio David Jr. and Shante Amelia, and Dylan Hopper, all of Taos, niece Donna Tibbits (Robert) and her children Tammy, Jeff and Don, and niece Deborah Hopper and her children Tim Younkman (Laura) and children Owen Ray and Eva Grace, and Tom Younkman. She enjoyed the little ones most of all towards the end. She was lively and charming and her spark will truly be missed.
