Marjorie Towers Ketelsen, 87, a resident of Keystone Cedars of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Marion, died Feb 11, 2005. Burial in Oakwood Cemetery in Monticello. Survivors include her husband, John, five children, Kathy (James) Ernst of Monona, IA, Randy (Maureen) Ketelsen of Arvada, CO., Lynn (Mary) Ketelsen of Owatonna, MN, Gary (Debbie) Ketelsen of Springville, and Von Ketelsen of Marion, several grandchildren, a sister, Marian (John) Kelso of Alexandria, VA. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, John "Jack" Ketelsen of Marion and a brother Dr. Charles "Mac" Towers. Marjorie was born Oct 15, 1919, the daughter of Charles B. and Iva (McChesney) Towers, in LaCygne, KS. She graduated from Marion High School in 1937 and from Cedar Rapids Business College. On March 5, 1944 she and John R. Ketelsen were married. Marjorie was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Marion for over 70 years. She was a 67 year member of the Order of Eastern Star, 50 year member of Marion Rural Homemakers, and U.S. Homemaker Circle Marjorie and John were proud to be one of the founding families of Linn-Mar High School. She was an active participant in the founding of Ketelsen RV.
