Wellsville, N.Y. — Marjorie E. Stebbins, 93, of 39 Trapping Brook Rd., died Sunday (April 17, 2011) in the Wellsville Manor Care Center following a long illness.
She was born Oct. 4, 1917 in Mills, Pa., the daughter of Earl and Maggie English Whitney. On Aug. 11, 1936 in Mills, Pa., she was married to Dale Stebbins, who predeceased her.
She was a graduate of the Harrison Valley High School, Class of 1935. She had resided in the Whitesville area prior to moving to Wellsville in 1965. She had been employed as a cook and baker in the Cow Palace in Whitesville and until her retirement was employed at Alfred State College in the Food Service and Housekeeping departments. She enjoyed attending to her own gardens.
She is survived by daughters, Barbara (Robert) Thompson of Corning, Virginia Emmitte of Lake Jackson, Texas; sons, Elwin (Linda) Stebbins of Hornell, Melvin (Patricia) Stebbins of Whitesville, Marvin (Karen) Stebbins of Garland, Texas; 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; a sister, Virginia Leach of Westfield, Pa.; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; husband; sons, Daryl and Meryl; a twin sister, Margaret Calcatte; and brothers, Bernard, Kenneth, Merrill and Paul Whitney.
