12 June and 25 June 1656: Clackmannanshire: Disposition by David Bruce of Kennets, eldest son and apparent heir of Robert Bruce of Schanbody, to Annas Murray, lady Kennet, his mother, of the Wodebank and other lands lying in the lands of Easter Kennet, in implement of his marriage contract with Marjory Young, daughter of David Young of Kirktoun, 12-25 June 1656. Because his father "intends and purposes to use policy and mak industry" in the lands of Craigtoun "by erecting and building of some saltpannes and salter houses"; the said David being also obliged after his father's death to furnish his mother with "two carts of small coalles and one cart of great coalles for her awin fyre weeklie and for brewing of her awin and her childrens drink ... she alwayis payand the expenses of hewing and bearing allennerly and careying them home to her awin durre". 12 June and 29 June 1656: Precept of Seisin, by Mr Robert Bruce of Shanbody, bearing, that by Contract matrimonial entered into between David Bruce, his eldest son, with his consent, on the one part, and Marjory Young, daughter of David Young of Kirktoun, he obliged himself, to infeft the said David Bruce, and Marjory Young, his spouse; in the lands of Craigtoun, and teinds of the same, lying in the parish and County of Clackmannan, and lands of Easter and Wester Kennets, & teinds, lying as said is, and under the conditions and reservations therein mentioned, therefore, nominating John Bruce in Wester Kennet, to give seisin in terms of said Precept Witnesses, Thomas Henderson of Auchindinny, Commissary of Perth, Major George Bruce, son of the deceased Sir Robert Bruce of Clackmannan, and Alexander Robertson. 28 January 1622: Instrument of Seisin, in favor of David Bruce, eldest son of Mr Robert Bruce of Shanbody, and Marjory Young his spouse, in the lands of Craigtoun and others, mentioned in Precept of Seisin GD11/158. and proceeding thereon. Witnesses Patrick Dempsterton, Gilbert Couston and Thomas Hall indwellers in Wester Kennet, and John Scobie younger in Clackmannan Note-This Instrument of Seisin contains a Ratification by Mr Robert Bruce of Wester Kennet of the contract Matrimonial therein referred to, but having neither date nor witnesses it is not made a separate number of-it is written on the back.
