Rotherham Mark Son of Joseph Rotherham and Ann Dayns, christened 10.2.1814 Holy Trinity Coventry. Married Mary Kirk 21.4.1834 St Johns Coventry.
Their children were
- Emma, born Emma Selina Kirk ch 20.10.1833,
- Thomas, ch 7.9.1835,
- Mary Ann ch 19.5.1837 death 22.8.1838, all christened at St Micheals Coventry
- Amy b 1839 died prior to 1841,
Lived at Much Park St.Coventry prior to emigrating Left England for New Zealand aboard the "Clifton"; 820 tons; Captain - Cox; Surgeon Superintendent: - Joseph Hamilton Smyth Sailed from Gravesend October 2nd 1841 - arrived Port Nicholson (Wellington) February 17th February 1842, were bounty emigrants sponsored by the NZCo.
Wife Mary Rotherham died at Wellington 26 December 1843.
Mark left New Zealand for Sydney with Emma and Thomas. No records of the arrival have been sourced todate; it is most likely that the family travelled in 'steerage'
Mark married Ann Halliday in 1847 in Penrith; two children
- Charles b1848 and
- John Rotherham b 1851. The family moved to Newcastle NSW,
Thomas married Catherine Annie Moyes 1867, no children; Thomas died in 1917,
Charles married Margaret Halliday, Charles died 1870,
John married Helen/Ellen Smith 1875 died 1930.
Emma connected to John Clarke, William Henry Clarke and William Stringer all of Hanging Rock NSW. Emma died as Emily Stringer at Tamworth NSW 31 May 1915. Her children John b 1861, Catherine b 1865 William Henry b 1867-1867,Mary Jane b 1866 - 1955, Charles 1869 - 1910 and Selina b 1872- 1964 Tamworth NSW.
