About Mart Talvik

Mart was born in Sweden. When he was a baby his Father passed away of Leukemia. When he turned 5 his Mother and himself immigrated to Canada on a Tug Boat. They lived in Toronto for many years. When Marts Mother, Linda, married Arthur, they moved to Maryland. In 1964 they would build a house and settle in Riviera Beach, MD.

Mart met his future wife through a friend and Co-Worker Wanda. He dated Nancy for 8 Months before he decided to ask Nancy's father, Roger, to marry her. Roger told Mart that he did not even know him. Roger then told Mart that they would set the Date for a year later and if they still wanted to get Married then that was OK with him.

Mart and Nancy got Married and started a Family in Woodlawn, MD. They would have 2 sons Eric and Randall. Three months after Randall was Born they moved to Finksburg in hopes of having a better safer life as Nancy was robbed at gun point on their front porch.

He developed a Brain Stem Tumor in 2003. They attempted to use Radiation to hopefully reduce the tumor but proved to be unsuccessful. He would Retire from CCBC at 27 1/2 years and 1 month Later and 3 days after his 58th Birthday he passed away at Carroll Hospital Center.

Mart made an impact on many people. He loved talking to people, meeting people, making people laugh and having a good time. Over 100 people would end up coming to Mart's Funeral. One person who attended the funeral would go on to say later, "So many people attended his funeral you would have thought he was a Celebrity." Some of his son's (Eric) friends viewed him like he was their own Father as some of them did not have a relationship with their own father.

Mart Enjoyed playing Hockey on Thursday Nights. He even broke his ankle once in a game. Doctors told him he would never play Hockey again. He would later prove them wrong as he was determined to get back on the Ice.

Mart loved sports. His Favorite Teams were the Baltimore Orioles, Baltimore Ravens, Baltimore Colts, Baltimore Blast, Washington Capitals, and the Maryland Terps.

He also enjoyed playing Golf on Sundays with his friends.

His favorite Band was The Doors.
