Martha "Mollie" Anderson Alberts , 97, passed away Thursday, September 1, 2011.

She and her twin sister and best friend, Mary, were born March 5, 1914 in Uintah to Andrew and Alma M. Johansen Anderson.

She lived in Uintah until she was 15. She moved to Salt Lake to attend Quist Beauty School and at the young age of 17 opened her own salon in Ogden, the Powder Puff Beauty Shoppe. She also worked in many different salons in Ogden and at Quinn Garment Co.

When she was 21 she learned to parachute jump and made her debut jump participating in an air circus at the Ogden Airport.

On September 30, 1943, Mollie married John C. Alberts in Elko, Nevada. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. John preceded her in death in 1997.

Mollie and John owned and operated Pennywise Market for 30 years.

She was a member of the North Ogden LDS 7th Ward. She held many secretarial positions in the Relief Society, including ward and stake secretary.

Mollie spent hundreds of hours crocheting beautiful afghans for each of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also made dozens of wonderful quilts for her family.

She was an excellent seamstress; made all of her own clothes, including the beautiful tailored suits she wore to church each Sunday. Over the years she made countless outfits for her family, including her daughters' wedding dresses.

Mollie is survived by her children, Paula A. (Maurice) Gallegos, J. Penny Mechem, Teri Lee Hartman (Dave Neria), a step-son, E. John (Jolene) Alberts, ten grandchildren 24 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, Marc D., grandson, Dee J., two brothers, A. Milton and Wando Anderson and her twin sister, Mary Hock
