Mass of Christian Burial for Martha Barbara Seiwald, 97, Eudora, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Family Catholic Church, Eudora. Burial will be in Holy Family Catholic Cemetery, Eudora.

Mrs. Seiwald died Sunday, June 3, 2001, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. She was born April 13, 1904, in Eudora, the daughter of Wendelin and Barbara (Ernst) Schehrer.

She graduated from Eudora High School and Emporia Teachers College. She taught school in Douglas County Rural Schools, the Farmland and Roscoe districts. Mrs. Seiwald was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, the St. Theresa's Altar Society and the Golden Age Club.

She married Berthold John Seiwald May 31, 1927, in Eudora. He died Nov. 8, 1958.

Survivors include three sons, Donald J. Seiwald, Independence, Mo., Paul B. Seiwald, Lillis, and Delbert J. Seiwald, Eudora; a daughter, Mary Martha Hennessey, Overland Park; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. The family suggests memorial contributions to Holy Family Cemetery Fund, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
