MEMORIAL PHOTOS 0 FLOWERS 0 Daughter of Gilbert Gray and Martha Welborn Gray, Randolph, NC. When her father died, her brother, Rev. Alson Gray, was appointed as her guardian. In 1853, she was a widow with four children when her brother, John Worth Gray, came to visit from Independence County, AR. By 1855, Martha moved with her four children to Independence County, also. John Worth Gray and his wife are buried in Mt. Tabor Cemetery. Martha had another brother in Independence County named Andrew. Andrew's wife, Mary B. Gray, and some of Andrew's and her children are buried in Barnett Cemetery. Martha Gray Chipman may be buried at Haddock Cemetery. She was not listed on the 1890 census for Independence County, but her great granddaughter, Ora May Goodwin (born Feb. 1886), remembers Grandmother Chipman visiting when Ora May was a young girl. Therefore, it is probable that Martha Ann Gray Chipman died between 1888 and 1900.
