Martha Marie Helland Gabriel

Marta left Norway Oct 9 1893 by ship "Italia" from Kristiansuand to Ellis Island, New York. From there she went to Iowa. There she met Ole Gabriel. Ole's fathers name was Gabriel Tonnesen from Stavanger, he and some family members immigrated to America. in 1854. So many of the people that came to Ellis Island changed their names. They settled in Iowa. Ole was born in Iowa in 1865. Marta and Ole got married there. In 1895, they took a trip to Norway, maybe a honeymoon or just to visit family. On the ship home, Tennis, their first child was born (1895).
