Biography

MARTHA POOR, born at Andover, May 1713 daughter of Daniel Poor and Mehitable Osgood;[1] Martha died at Chelmsford, 27 Apr 1793 at age 80 “79 11/12”;[2][3] married at Chelmsford, 12 Jan 1748,[4] as his second wife, BENJAMIN HOWARD, born at Chelmsford, 9 Apr 1691 son of Nathaniel and Sarah (Parker) Howard;[5] Benjamin died at Chelmsford, 19 Jan 1760 at age 69.[6] Benjamin was first married to Mary Fletcher.

Probate

In his will written 20 December 1759 (probate 25 February 1760), Benjamin Howard left to his beloved wife Martha all the household goods to be hers forever. Martha also receives two cows and three sheep and is to be well-maintained by the executor as specified in the will. She also has use of the dwelling house while she is a widow. Daughters Mary Richardson, Elizabeth Warren, Rachel Bancroft, and Rebecca Haskel each receives £2.13.4. Granddaughter Lydia Fletcher daughter of Andrew Fletcher deceased receives £2.13.4. His other two daughters Martha Howard and Lydia Howard are to receive £26.13.4 at age twenty-one or time of marriage. Son Samuel receives all the lands in Chelmsford and the residue of the personal estate. Samuel is named executor.[7]
