Actress. Texan born Martha Hyer had her first film role in "The Locket" in 1946 and made her last movie, "The Day Of The Wolves" in 1971. It was Hyer's performance as schoolteacher Gwen French in "Some Came Running" (1958) that earned her an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. She also had notable film roles in "Sabrina" (1954), "Ice Palace" (1960), "The Carpetbaggers" (1964) and "The Sons Of Katie Elder" (1965). In 1966, Hyer married famed producer Hal Wallis. It was the second marriage for both and lasted until his death in 1986. Not long afterwards, she moved to Santa Fe, an area she'd fallen in love with years earlier when she had accompanied her husband there for location shooting of "Red Sky At Morning" in 1971.
