Martha (Hoskhuldsdtr) Hamre was born to Hoskhuldt Christofersen & Magla (Ostensdtr. Stensland) June 11,1825 in Hjelmeland, Norway.
Martha married Knut Knutson Kleppe in 1851 in Norway. They arrived in America in 1857 with 2 of their children (Knut Knutson Jr(6 yrs) and Hans Knutson(3 yrs). One child was stillborn (Lars Kristian(1856). and 5 more children were born in America to this union (Lars Kristian(1858), Martin Knutson(1860),Ole Knutson(1862), Malina Mari(1864)and Bertha Sorine(1866).
Knut and Martha settled on a farm in Dover Townshipe and lived there till she was called home to her Heavenly Father on April 3,1889. She was one of the oldest settlers of the area.
Burial was April 5,1889 at the First Lutheran Church Cemetery also known as the Frame Church Cemetery.

We Learn from J.A. Andress, that Mrs.Knut Knudson Kleppa died on Wednesday and will be buried today. Mrs Kleppa, was one of the oldest settlers of Dover township, having lived there 32 years. Her age was 64. She leaves a husband and seven children, five boys and two girls, all being present at the funeral, the two married daughters coming down from Dakota to pay their last respects to their loved mother.
