"Colonel James Minott, the fifth child [of James Minott & Rebecca Wheeler], was one of the most distinguished men of his times. He was a military officer about thirty years, and advanced to colonel, justice of the peace, representative, and a member of the King's Council.

He married 1. Martha Lane 1716; had

2. Rebecca (who married Benjamin Prescott of Danvers and were the parents of Roger Sherman's second wife Rebecca Minott Prescott, and
3. James.

His wife died 1735; and he m. again Elizabeth Merrick …

Death and Burial

Old Hill Burying Ground, Concord, Middlesex County, Massachusetts; Inscription:

"Here lyes buried ye Body of Mrs. Martha Minott Wife to Major James Minott (Daug. of Major John Lane & Mrs. Susannah His Wife) who Departed this Life Janry 18 AD 1733 in ye 40th Year of Her Age." [2]
