Martha Roberds

Note about death date and place

DNA matching has led to a conjecture that Martha Runyon, acknowledged wife of Freeman Roberds, actually died in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, prior to 1779, at which point Freeman remarried to another Martha, birth surname Wood. I have adjusted the information for Martha Runyon accordingly, and transferred her date and place of death to Martha Wood, until such time as the conjecture is disproven by DNA.

Analysis, from a descendant of son Joseph Roberds

Ancestry.com's ThruLines indicates from my Runyon autosomal DNA matches that Isaac Runyon 1738-1821 and John Runyon 1740-1807 are siblings to my Martha Runyon. (Parents: Joseph Runyon 1704-1780 and Hannah Stout 1705-1763). Joseph Runyon b. 1704 was son of Thomas Derrick Runyon 1675-1753 and Martha Ann Dunn 1781-1738.

The following information is from the website Find A Grave.com: Roberds, Freeman, Bucks, Pa., and Martha Runyon, Bucks, Pa. 1768 Oct. 20 New Jersey Colonial Documents - Quaker Certificates of marriage were found for Walter Roberds dated 1 May 1758 Buckingham Monthly Meeting, Bucks County and John Roberds 14 Dec 1764 Goshen Monthly Meeting, Bucks County, Pa. Freeman's marriage may have been abt the same time as John's in Bucks County Pa. and record was lost - license was later applied for in New Jersey.

Martha Runyon Roberds was born ca1739 in Hopewell, Hunterdon County, New Jersey (next to Bucks County, PA), died before 1774 in Bucks County, Pa. She was the mother of Joseph Roberds born 4 Feb 1766 Bucks County, Pa (no birth record, date recorded by Rev James Roberds as was given to him by Joseph Roberds)

Ancestry autosomal DNA matches with descendants of Isaac Runyon 1738-1821 and John Runyon 1740-1807. Martha was probably the daughter of Joseph Runyon 1704-1780 and Hannah Stout 1705-1763.
