20th June 1745 John Poulter died and bequeathed same to Admiral William Barker, from whom it passed by will to his daughter Martha Shrive (nee Barker)
Martha's will dated May 23 1798 to Martha's son William Shrive Jr.

Another"List of the Owners of Clare Priory" states that Martha and her sister Lydia Sayer were co-owners..
Colonel John Barker married Caroline Conyers. Caroline' (Conyers), widow, and daughter Caroline and her husband and children were living at Clare Priory in 1841 (see Census)
After Caroline (Conyers) died c. 1846 her son John inherited Clare Priory.
