About Martha Waller
Biography
Retrieved from https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Waller-4327 and then edited.
Pomfrett Waller was born to Col. John and Agnes (Carr) Waller January 20, 1747, in Spotsylvania County, Virginia.
He married Martha Martin. She was a daughter of Joseph Martin Sr. and a sister of General Joseph Martin, who served in the Revolution as a lieutenant and captain, moved to North Carolina, where the legislature later appointed him a general in the Militia. They had no children.
Pomfrett was one of the executors of his father’s will which bequeathed him 200 acres in 1776. He continued to be charged with the land in the Spotsylvania tax rolls until his death. The farm straddled the border between Spotsylvania and Caroline Counties according to a deed made by Martha after his death. In the personal property tax rolls, Pomfret was listed with about 2-9 slaves and 1-8 horses from 1782 (earliest surviving record) to 1799. Pomfrett died June 20, 1799 in Spotsylvania County.
He left his estate for the support of his wife, Martha, and after her death the remainder to his nephews, Carr, Dabney, Pomfrett, and John Waller, sons of Thomas Carr Waller, and Waller Bullock, a son of his sister, Ann (Waller) Bullock and her husband, James Bullock.
Martha died June 20, 1813, probably in Fayette County, Kentucky.

”January 31 · Tombstone erected in 2006 for Martha Martin Waller. Martha, a sister of Gen Joseph Martin, died while on a visit to her brother at Belmont and was buried there. Proudly, I was able to find the information about her many years ago from her family. I was instrumental in getting the DAR to place a stone to her memory. She has become one of my "Adopted" grandmothers.”
