Martie Rademeyer (1976 - 2020)

Brief overview:

Marthie (44), and her long term partner, Alan Wolmarans (54), were attacked on their smallholding between Pyramid and Hammanskraal outside, Grootvlei, Pretoria east, on 5th July 2020 when two armed males accosted them. Marthie was shot dead. The bullet hit Marie in the mouth, and she died at the scene. Alan was hit on the head with a firearm and sustained head injuries. Reports state that a 91-year-old woman who was in the house was unhurt, but traumatised.

The couple was walking back from their eatery, Wolmarans Cafe, on the R101, when two armed men suddenly appeared in the back yard where the couple’s vehicle was parked. Alan is uncertain how many shots were fired at Marthie.

The attackers gained entry into the property by jumping over the wall, Juan du Plessis, spokesperson for GAC Risk Solutions said. When they reacted to a call out to the property and Marthie was pronounced dead around 21:30.

Hillel Coetzer, AfriForum’s head of safety for the northern region said one of their members, Marius Muller, was also on the scene last night where the well-known couple was attacked.

R1000 and a cellphone was stolen.
