Martim Vasques da Cunha, by Wikipedia

Martim Vasques da Cunha was a nobleman of the Kingdom of Portugal and the 4th Senhor Morgado de Tábua and the 6th Senhor de Tabua .

He served as Alcaide-mor of the Castle of Linhares da Beira and the reign of King Dinis of Castle Celorico da Beira . In addition to these mayors, there were the landlords of Pombeiro , Angeja and Bemposta .

At the time of the Battle of Trancoso, which took place at the beginning of June in the year 1385 , between Portuguese and Castilian forces . the King D. João I of Castela who had invaded Portugal returned to Castela , Gonçalo Vasques Coutinho , the Alcaide-Major of the Castle of Trancoso , the forces of the Al-Moride of the Castle of Linhares , Martim Vasques da Cunha and the of the Mayor of Castelo da Celorico da Beira , João Fernandes Pacheco who fought at the Chapel of São Marcos de Trancoso , in Trancoso. Portugal won the dispute and thus recovered its possessions and freed the captives.

In the 1386 campaign in the service of D. João I , after taking Almeida , this host was divided into three and he followed his command. But, as the next target was the encirclement of the village of Coria , already in Castilian territory, so it became to regroup. And as the practical result was null for the besieging forces, they ended up withdrawing to Penamacor , ending that campaign there.

He was the son of Vasco Lourenço da Cunha ( 1210 -?), 2nd lord of Morgado de Tábua and D. Teresa Pires Portel (c. 1210 - 1291 ) Daughter of D. Pedro Pires de Portel or D. Pedro Pires Fernandes de Portel or D. Pedro Pires of Portugal and D. Froile Rodrigues de Pereira.
