MARTIN ABZUG, 69; BROKER AND AUTHOR OF WORKS OF FICTION
Martin Abzug, a stockbroker and the husband of former Representative Bella Abzug, died of a heart attack yesterday morning at their home in Manhattan. He was 69 years old.
Mr. Abzug, who had had coronary problems for almost a decade, was found dead about 9 A.M. Mrs. Abzug, who is running for the Democratic nomination to Congress from Westchester County, was notified immediately at her office in White Plains, according to a family spokesman.
Mr. Abzug, who had written two novels as a young man, had just completed a new one at the time of his death, according to the family. Its theme was the lifetime search of a man for his Nazi persecutor. His earlier novels were Spearhead, published in 1946, about the Battle of the Bulge in World War II, and Seventh Avenue Story, published in 1947.
A native New Yorker whose family was in the garment business, Mr. Abzug left his studies at the City College of New York in 1934 to work in the family's business. 'Key Is Maturity'
He remained in the garment business until 1960, when, after a period of writing freelance articles on economic matters, he became a stockbroker. At the time of his death, he was with the brokerage firm of Philips Appel & Walden Inc.
