Martin Olsen Ingjer

Picture show family Martin Olsen (Ingjer) his 2.wife Josephine Augesen Olsen and his four children. His brother Kristian Olsen Ingjer got the photo when he, his wife and their daughter Irene visited Norway in 1934.

Martin was born on the farm, Ingjer, as the third son. He and his older brother Kristian went to USA.

Kristian went back to Norway after two workvisits to US. He sold his farm Ingjer and bought the farm Myrimellom i Blaker. Han var tømrer og bodde to perioder i USA. Datteren Blache var født i Portland, Maine. Kristian was my husbands grandfather,

• Ingjer østre, gnr. 72 bnr. 22, ble etter skylddelingen i 1894 brukt av Amund Ingjers sønn Ole, og hans sønn Kristian ble eier i 1916. I 1923 solgte han eiendommen til Lars Andreassen fra Ingjer vestre etter han selv hadde kjøpt Myrmellem. østre har 20 da. innmark og hadde i 1951 3 kyr og 2 griser. Skylden er 22 øre.
• Ole Amundsen Ingjer var som sin far og bestefar salmaker. I 1875 hadde Ingjer som enda var udelt, 2 kyr og 2 sauer, sådde 3/4 tn. bygg og 3 tnr. havre og satte 3 tnr. p.oteter. Det var en liten flekk som ble brukt til rotvekster, og til engen var det brukt 12 skålpund grasfrø.

From the originalsencus we can read Martin was a labourer at the street cars here in Yarmouth along with his fathers Cousin Christian Anderson who was Foreman at Street Car Track.

Yarmouth Street Railway Company began operating after tea on Friday evening, 26 August 1892. Its cars carried 600 passengers that day, 1600 on Saturday, and 1600 on Sunday. The influenza pandemic of 1918-1919 killed more people than the Great War, known today as World War I (WWI), at somewhere between 20 and 40 million people. It has been cited as the most devastating epidemic in recorded world history. More people died of influenza in a single year than in four-years of the Black Death Bubonic Plague from 1347 to 1351. Known as "Spanish Flu" or "La Grippe" the influenza of 1918-1919 was a global disaster.
