Martin Wilken (1964 - 2008)
Brief overview:
Martin (44), was shot dead on his smallholding in Hartbeeshoek, north of Pretoria, on 19th August 2008. His girlfriend was assaulted, but survived.
Martin was shot twice in the torso. One bullet pierced his heart and he passed away at the scene.
His former father-in-law, Scott van Heerden (71), said that the perpetrators gained access through the first floor bathroom window. "One robber climbed through the window and unlocked the door for the other robbers. They went upstairs, and when Martin heard a noise and opened up the bedroom door, and that's when they shot him," said Scott.
Martin's girlfriend repeatedly asked the attackers not to hurt her, and when they asked her for the car keys, she handed them over.
