"In the study of Jewish Kippenheim by Jurgen Stude we find the picture of a house entrance at #6 Friedhofstrasse with the Hebrew text "Maharam Weil", reflecting the origin of the two Weil families (Maram and Eliezer), both from Stuehlingen.

Berthold Rosenthal, in a 1937 note found in his archives at the Leo Baeck Institute, states that the Marum Weil of Kippenheim was called Marx Weyl der Alt in 1748.

According to Guenther Boll he left Stuehlingen and must have been resident in Kippenheim in the period ; on the other hand Stude says he arrived in Kippenheim in 1740.

Peter Stein believes him to be Marum, Sandels Sohn.
