Marvin Ernest Matthes, age 94, Foley, MN, formerly of Marshfield, WI, died Saturday, November 22, 2014 at Foley Nursing Center, Foley, MN.

Memorial services will be Tuesday, December 30, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Zion United Methodist Church, Marshfield, WI. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church in Marshfield on Tuesday. Interment with full military honors will be in Stratford Lutheran Parish Cemetery, Stratford, WI. Funeral arrangements were made by Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN.

Marvin was born March 13, 1920 in McMillan, WI, to Ernest F. and Mary E. (Schar) Matthes. On June 11, 1943, Marvin was united in marriage to Gladys K. Moen at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Marshfield, WI. Marvin, a World War II veteran, served in the United States Navy from 1944 to 1946. He was a member of Zion United Methodist Church, Marshfield, WI. Marvin loved hunting and could fix anything.

Survivors include sons and daughter, Roger Matthes of Spencer, WI; Steve (Christy) Matthes of Denver, CO; Kurt (Kathy) Matthes of Elk River, MN; Sandra (Wendell) Hansen of Foley; MN; sister, Ruth Kopp of Stratford, WI; 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Gladys on October 22, 2012, and sons, James and Kenneth.
