About Marvin Joseph Percher

https://www.dignitymemorial.com/obituaries/brookline-ma/marvin-perc...

Marvin J. Percher, 94, of Weston, formerly of Singer Island, FL, and Jericho, LI. passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 14th.
Beloved husband of the late Evelyn (Dorfman) for 72 years. devoted father of Dennis, Alan and Shana (Krell), he leaves behind seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Interment will be at New Montefiore Cemetery, West Babylon, NY.

Marvin grew up in Brooklyn, and after time in the Navy during WWII went to CCNY graduating with an electrical engineering degree. The highpoint of his career was as a project manager for the LEM (Lunar Excursion Module) for Apollo X at Grumman in Bethpage. He had a passion for home improvement and inventing. Designing a metal shear, he started a mail-order business, Accu Cutter, with a partner. While only a part-time job on Long Island, it became a full-time business when he moved to Florida in 1979; he sold the business in 2005 to enjoy his retirement. He also had an underground sprinkler business on Long Island and developed special watering systems. He and Evelyn had a passion for travel taking month-long (!) trips to over 20 countries, which he meticulously planned himself through guide books and faxed communications. Their most memorable trip was for a wildlife safari in eastern Africa when travel there was far less common. He moved up to Massachusetts in 2013 to be near his children, Shana and Alan. His last residence in Massachusetts was at the assisted-living facility Maplewood at Weston.
