Mary Ann Maguire

Research by Ursula Mary Latham (nee Bratt) confirms maiden name and Hollingworth ancestry. This research gives date of birth as 1867 and death as 1948.

The 1901 census (see media) also confirms Mary Anne's maiden name, Hollingworth. Husband James Maguire must have been away in the wars, so she was the head of the household aged 32 at 239 Collinghurst Road, Manchester. Also in the household was her eldest daughter Elizabeth (13), another daughter Ethel Alice (under a year old) and sister Maria Hollingsworth [sic], aged 22, a french polisher, who was unmarried but had a 7 month old daughter Mary.

The 1881 census for the Hollingworth family (see media) shows Mary Ann as the eldest child, aged 14, who is a children's nurse, followed by siblings Sarah A (11), John T (9), Alice (6), Maria (4) and Emma (1). Their parents are Jos Hollingworth (40) a labourer/painter and Elizabeth (39) a charwoman.
