Mary Alice's father returned from the war when she was 7 years old. He was a virtual invalid and in ill health for the rest of his life.

Mary Alice had 6 brothers and 3 sisters:

From the Myrtle Point Enterprise, Thursday, April 6, 1916:

Mrs. E. Arneson died at the family home near this city Mar. 31, 1916. Mary Brockman Arneson was born in Linn Co., Iowa, Apr 5, 1858. She was married to Mr. E[rick] Arneson Mar. 26, 1878 in Webster Co., Nebraska when she was almost 20 years old. They were farming in Franklin County, Nebraska before coming west.

They came to Oregon in 1882 and first settled in Multnomah county, and then came to Coos county about 20 years ago to become farmers here.

To the marriage of Mr. and Mrs. Arneson 5 children were born, 2 girls and 3 boys. The girls have "passed on before". Mr. Arneson and 3 sons, Cecil, Arthur and Manley reside here. Funeral services are in the charge of Eastern Star.

After Mary's death, Erik and the 3 boys stayed in Oregon, while the boys worked for logging companies. Erik and his two older boys moved to Mayflower, Faulkner County, Arkansas, where Erik died there in 1935. His sons, Manley and Arthur were there in the 1940s.

Through research, their known children (up to this point) were:

  • **Ira Emanuel "Manley" Arenson (1881-1943 in Kentucky)
    • *Arthur Marble Arneson (1884-1969 in Arizona)
      • William Cecil Arneson (1887-1959 in California)
      • Ella May Arneson (1894-1907 in Oregon)
